After a fairly intense morning of training course, meaning I had to miss celebration assembly, which I always try not to as it’s my favourite of the week – thank you Mrs Hannam for taking over – it was good to be back in school. This afternoon was a joy as I was able to catch up with the children and see them enjoying their learning. All around the school there was a mass of colour, fun and enjoyment – from the rugby coaching on the field to the nature walk on the playground and circus making in the classroom.
To top off the day, we held a thoroughly enjoyable and, once again, wonderfully supported Tea with the Head. Today, however, it was held in support of Macmillan Cancer Support and I would like to sincerely thank everyone who donated cakes and attended, giving so generously to this extremely worthwhile cause. in total, from our half hour chat over coffee we made £46.36, which will be sent off to Macmillan on Monday.
Thank you all so very much, it was good to see you all there.
…starting with an extended and final celebration assembly of the year. This morning we were all enthralled by some confident and brilliant musicians from all of our classes, who volunteered to perform a piece on the instrument that they have been learning this year. I must say that I was full of admiration for them all, as they took to the stage and performed so very well indeed. Mixed in amongst the usual birthdays, celebration certificates, out of school achievements and Westwood wonders it was the perfect start to the day and I loved it. We must do that more often.
This afternoon was my final tea with the head of the year and we decided to combine it with a super art exhibition from Ms Brown and art club. It was lovely to see so many of our parent and pupil community there for a drink, cake and a chat and it gave us all the opportunity to reflect on our first enjoyable year as a school community. Thank you for coming, it was a joy to see my mum’s cake all eaten and with enjoyment. I have told her and she was thrilled!
A lovely hour spent yesterday after school, talking to parents and enjoying tea and cake. Our first tea with the head was a success and great to see so many people coming along. Some good discussion too, with ideas to ponder to improve the school even further.
I’ll look forward to the same next term.
