I felt compelled this evening to blog about our Summer Fair, which took place yesterday afternoon in and around the school grounds. All week we had all been keeping more than a close eye on the weather and with everything crossed, a committed and brilliantly organised band of our amazing Friends of Westwood School arrived early to adorn the school field with a vast array of stalls, activities, scarecrows and general fun. The result – probably the best 3 hours I have ever had the pleasure of taking part in at a school fair.
We had over 300 people through the gates yesterday and, one again, I was struck by the tremendous community spirit and support from everyone. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and so good to see everyone coming together and having fun with school at the focus. I’d like to give a HUGE thank you to Ann, Elaine and all of our Friends of Westwood School who give so much of their time, effort and commitment to our school. Months and months of planning and hard work resulted in a perfectly orchestrated and thoroughly enjoyable afternoon yesterday. Thank you everyone.
In case you couldn’t make it yesterday, here are some photos of the summer fair and also a couple of videos of my brilliant country dancers. I am so proud of them all as they gave everything for two weeks to learn some really quite difficult routines. Well done everyone, you were amazing and danced so well!
