Finally, I have found a little time to sit down and get some words online. July seems such a long time ago now since I last write anything of length, yet it is lovely to be back and see everyone again. You may have noticed a new feature on here – A Photo a Day, which aims to record something photographically each day throughout the academic year. We will see where that takes us, but I hope that I can cover a range of topics and images to make it interesting,
Already there has been so much happening within school with new topics getting underway and children out and about taking in the local area. I have been spending time in and around school seeing some super learning taking place and visiting new classes, all of which have settled very well. There has been a very calm and purposeful feel to our school this past week and children have enjoyed telling me what they have been learning. It has been particularly lovely to welcome our new reception children and parents and I hope you enjoy your first term with us.
This year we will be focusing on using blogging to raise standards in English, something that I am particularly excited about. Over the summer so many children contributed to their blogs and it was great to see and read their posts and comments. I have no doubt that this will take off and become a real focus for the children’s learning. It is also something that you as parents can play a big part in to support your child. On our school website you will find a page of all our blogs and a few videos and pointers to get you going. We would LOVE to see your comments on the children’s work!
We are also teaching using the International Primary Curriculum this year, which has already engaged and inspired the children with its fascinating topics. If you would like to find out more of how it is structured, I will be hosting a launch evening tomorrow night at 6.30pm in the hall. Please come along and join the journey.
With such a successful year last year, this year, I am sure, will continue to build on all that we have achieved so far and more. I am looking forward to the challenge, the fun and above all, being a part of a wonderful community.
